Heat plate, sear plate, heat deflector or diffuser - the names are endless. "Flav-R-Wave" is just Broil King's trade mark for their design.

Broil King's Flav-R-Wave system covers almost the entire surface area underneath the cook box. This means you're going to get more evenly distributed heat, and it will stop just about anything from falling onto the burners below.
